Summary of the Problem.
a. During the performance of maintenance there have been two incidents of canopy detonating cords,
NSN 1377--01--170--5260, not firing when inadvertently initiated. These cords have the potential of being
installed with a kink, which will prevent the cord from firing properly. This failure will prevent the CPG canopy
jettison system from operating.

c.
The purpose of this TB 1--1520--238--20--121 is to:
(1) Require inspection of all AH--64 series aircraft to determined the part number of the CPG det-
onating cord installed.
(2) Require replacement of suspect CPG canopy cord NLT 31 Oct 2004.
(3) Provide supplemental egress procedures if suspect canopy detonating cord is installed.
(4) Provide technical manual changes relating to the canopy detonating system.
(5) Allow flight beyond scheduled retirement life
of
the
detonating
cord
(NSN
1377--01--186--9901 and 1377--01--170--5260) until 31 October 2004.
